The hiking and cross-country skiing paradise Knottenried – Diepolz above Immenstadt in the Allgäu region exemplifies the successful integration of tourist infrastructure into a sensitive natural landscape. Recently, a new building complex was completed here, serving the storage, maintenance, and service of the trails and hiking paths. Built in a traditional style with untreated materials, the building harmoniously blends into the landscape. The elongated structure with a gabled roof includes garages, storage areas, a fueling station, and a public restroom.
For this charming construction project, ALPGATE supplied a folding gate that, thanks to the wooden paneling on the building side, seamlessly and flushly integrates into the building complex. The two-leaf folding gate, measuring approximately 4600 mm in width and 3800 mm in height, is powered by two motors and allows for a generous opening for the garage.
ALPGATE folding gates can be designed in many variants and can be individually adapted to specific needs. The connections can also be custom-made thanks to the high flexibility, offering plenty of room for appealing architectural solutions. The service building Diepolz with the ALPGATE folding gate was submitted for the Heinze Architecture AWARD 2024 and stands for a successful example of the interplay between functionality and aesthetic integration into a natural environment.
