The Fire and Rescue Station IV in Bochum-Weitmar was commissioned this year and is responsible for the southwestern area of Bochum. The new building is located at the previous site of Rescue Station IV at 410 Hattinger Straße and integrates the former rescue station into the modern complex. A state-of-the-art building with four full stories has been constructed on the approximately 6,000 square meter property.
Special emphasis was placed on sustainability during construction, including the use of a reinforced concrete-wood hybrid structure, a 93 kWp photovoltaic system, and a geothermal system. Additionally, high-quality thermal insulation was installed to minimize energy consumption.
ALPGATE supplied seven fully glazed folding doors of the FT-SP-50 type for this new fire station, with a 2+2 opening scheme. The mullion-free, fully glazed doors have dimensions of 4750 mm x 4060 mm (W x H). The modern fire station folding doors consist of a steel frame structure filled with safety insulating glass with sun protection (Ug-value of 1.1 W/m²K).
The doors and the cladding panels between the folding door frame parts in front of the reveal were coated with a weather-resistant powder coating in DB 703. The motors were mounted concealed to ensure an aesthetically pleasing and functional design.
With the ALPGATE folding doors, Fire and Rescue Station IV is well-equipped to meet the demands of daily operations. The doors not only provide the highest safety and quality but also offer a modern, sustainable solution for fire protection and rescue services in Bochum.
Since April 1, 2024, the new station has been staffed around the clock with a team of 12 emergency personnel who ensure quick and efficient assistance throughout the city.
